Nafferton Youth Football Club
Objective – Nafferton’s only junior football team aims to get children involved in football and to help the parents encourage the children to lead a healthy, active lifestyle. Over the course of the season the players will develop new football skills, make new friends and learn the value of discipline and teamwork whilst having as much fun as possible.Continue reading
Who – The sessions are aimed at boys and girls who are currently in infant school Year 1 or Year 2.
When – Sessions are held on the Nafferton Recreation Club field at 10am every Saturday (subject to weather and availability) for 1 hour. Sessions have started now (October 2014)
Fees – The sessions are £2.00 with an initial registration fee of £10.00 per child. The fees cover equipment costs, venue hire (if we have to go indoors due to continuous bad weather), Christmas party and an end of season presentation evening.
Current Set Up – There are currently two coaches, myself and Ross Sanderson, who run the sessions and we currently have 11 players registered and on average 9 attend every week. At the moment I currently look after everything to do with running the club i.e. preparing training, collecting money, organising events. We have codes of conduct for the players, coaches, spectators and parents/carers which was handed out with the registration forms and signed to confirm they have read them.
Future – Next season I will be affiliating the football club with the FA, which will provide insurance cover and also enable the team to play matches against other teams(friendlies). We will be looking to increase the number of children who attend the sessions and when we have a larger number we will look at entering teams into the relevant leagues. As a result of the potential increase in numbers we would be looking for additional coaches, no qualifications would be needed and the club will help towards the cost of any courses. All that we would ask is that they are patient and enthusiastic.
When we do enter the leagues one of our main objectives will still be for the children to have as much fun as possible and the way that I want to run the club is for every child to play as much as possible and for there to be no pressure on them about winning games.
